nvidia 6200 tc graphic card

nvidia 6200 tc graphic card

i have nvidia 6200 tc 128 mb graphic card in vista i cant play any windows games or open media centre or any vedios i have installed driver provided by nvidia 88.61 and it even doesnt show full vedio card memory it shows only 16 mb instead of 128 mb when i start to "rate my computer" my pc restarts

That's because your video graphics card uses "TurboCache" which is a marketing term, meaning "Steals System RAM." Vista is more than likely properly identifying the actually amount of RAM on the card itself. The card probably doesn't have the horsepower or the proper support (WDDM, Pixel Shading, DirectX 10, etc...)

I believe that for Media Center you must have a 6200 TC card that has at least 32MB of onboard memory and it appears that yours ony has 16MB.

yes but with this card i can play "the elder scrolls 4 oblivion" game on vista nicely except the vedio which comes at the start of the game is sloppy

Just bdeacuse a card supports Vista does not mean that it supports all applications that come with Vista such as MC or all applications within MC. Games use display techniques then MC video. Can you play a DVD both in Media Player and in Media Center.. It has been a long time since I believe I saw that you needed 32MB of onboard memory on a 6200 TC card to support MC video so I an not provide any reference to what I believe I saw. What resolution are you trying to output video at and over what interface? With the low memory bandwidth of the 128 MB 6200 TC card you may be able to get video using MCE or Media Player if at 800x600 over VGA. "karteek" wrote in message

Good news, If you want to get to higher resolutions, faster game response or to add an HDTV then I suggest that you replace the card with a NVIDIA 7600GT.

There is nno need for a 7800 unless you play high end games. I am not a gamer so I have no idea what the card requirements of the different games are. Here are the specs for the different Nvidia chips:

Here is a link that may help you if you are a gamer:
